Recently I've been using Dropbox to store all my files in the cloud. If you'd like to do the same, use my referral link and we both get an extra 250mb of space :)

Tour

So you've decided to dabble in a tour of Enlightr, fantastic!

To help guide you the way, here's Enlighty -

enlighty-confused

Hmm ok, let's begin. Here at Enlightr we've got a few fancy thingies that'll help you out on the big wide web. Firstly, you'll discover the 'cloud'.

enlighty-evil Welcome to the cloud.

The Cloud

The cloud is the main page where you'll find your favourite blogger's and their posts. The cloud is basically a collection of blogger's and their work - but in a condensed, summarised way.

The cloud allows you to -

  • Keep up-to-date with your favourite bloggers in a much faster way.
  • Improve your productivity. Read 50 words instead of a 1000 without any loss.
  • Enhance your reading. Find and read what you want, faster and more efficiently.
  • Get what you really want. Pure, hard facts, opinions and knowledge - fat free.

enlighty-beta *Beta notice* Expect more blogger's to be added soon. At the moment we're still at a beta standard! :)

First looks at the self improvement cloud

new-cloud-1

Firstly, you'll see a menu list of the blogger's available. Clicking on a blogger will refresh the stream to show only that specific blogger and his or her posts. Let's pick on Dumb Little Man for demonstration purposes.

new-cloud-2

Once you've selected a particular blogger (in this case, Dumb Little Man) you feel like catching up on you'll be greeted with a list of summarised posts currently in the cloud. In the case of Dumb Little Man, there's near 90 posts in total at the moment so it's separated into various pages through pagination.

Also notice there's a few options stating which area does. Under the recent bar is recent posts, under popular is popular posts and under random is a complete random selection of posts for you to have a look at.

The aim is to have every new blog post from these blogger's summarised and updated in the cloud within an hour after it's posted on the blogger's blog.

Important Tip

The best way to use the cloud and its summaries is in conjunction with the original blogger's post - not instead of it. Think of the summary as more of memory aid or productive reminder. When you've not got time to read the full post but you want the knowledge tucked away inside - read the summary then read the full original post at a later date to make sure you've absorbed the knowledge correctly.

The other way to use the summaries is as a memory aid. If you've read a deeply interesting post from a blogger you love but wish the important advice was in a step-by-step format or laid out for quick retrieval then you'll in luck - that's what the summary does for you. Then, if needed, a quick read of the summary will remind you of the full post in detail.

I've personally contacted every blogger I've added to the cloud and received proper permission to summarise and house their work.

Technical Tip

If you want to keep up with your favourite blogger's summaries without actually visiting Enlightr you can subscribe to our RSS feed at: http://feeds.feedburner.com/enlightr.

Once you've subscribed, you can use an RSS reader such as http://www.google.com/reader/view/ to view and read the RSS when ever you feel. If you're interested in keeping up-to-date, RSS feeds are the best way.

The Community

enlighty-community Join and connect with similar minded people and enjoy your passion together...

The community is the hub of communication and sharing within the cloud. Chat about the summaries, make your own summaries and basically have fun with people who are like you.

Anyone familiar with Facebook already knows how to use and play with groups. The community is simply a little part of Facebook dedicated to Enlightr. You'll find RSS updates, user opinons and general chitty chatty. If that's what you want, pop over to our facebook page at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Enlightr/130585948348 or if you're into Twitter, we're there too at: https://twitter.com/Enlightr.
