So you've decided to dabble in a tour of Enlightr, fantastic!

To help guide you the way, here's Enlighty -

Hmm ok, let's begin. Here at Enlightr we've got a few fancy thingies that'll help you out on the big wide web. Firstly, you'll discover the 'cloud'.

enlighty-evil Welcome to the cloud.

The Cloud

The cloud is where you'll find your favourite blogger's and their posts. The cloud is basically a collection of blogger's and their work - but in a condensed, summarised way.

The cloud allows you to -

  • Keep up-to-date with your favourite bloggers in a much faster way.
  • Improve your productivity. Read 50 words instead of a 1000 without any loss.
  • Enhance your reading. Find and read what you want, faster and more efficiently.
  • Get what you really want. Pure, hard facts, opinions and knowledge - fat free.

enlighty-beta *Beta notice* Currently the cloud only offers blogger's from the world of self improvement, but another 11 sections are planned which dig out a lot of gold from the web.

First looks at the self improvement cloud

*Beta notice*

Currently the cloud is populated with 8 self improvement blogger's, the final plan is to have 12 blogger's per section - which means another 4 self improvement blogger's are planned to be added.

Blogger's may be dropped or added in the self improvement area throughout beta as we test which 12 blogger's you all want to represent the self improvement cloud.

cloud-look-1

Firstly, you'll see a 2 column list of the blogger's available. Clicking on a blogger will take you to their individual feed of summarised posts. Let's pick on Dumb Little Man for demonstration purposes.

cloud-look-2

Once you've selected a particular blogger (in this case, Dumb Little Man) you feel like catching up on you'll be greeted with a list of summarised posts currently in the cloud. In the case of Dumb Little Man, there's 14 posts in total.

Also notice there's a few options at your disposal here. Firstly, you can search the summaries to find a specific summary or summaries revolved around cakes (for example!). You'll also see you've got the ability to order by date, alphabetic or rating etc - giving you complete control over what you want to see.

The aim is to have every new blog post from these blogger's summarised and updated in the cloud within an hour after it's posted on the blogger's blog.

Important Tip

The best way to use the cloud and its summaries is in conjunction with the original blogger's post - not instead of it. Think of the summary as more of memory aid or productive reminder. When you've not got time to read the full post but you want the knowledge tucked away inside - read the summary then read the full original post at a later date to make sure you've absorbed the point correctly.

The other way to use the summaries is as a memory aid. If you've read a deeply interesting post from a blogger you love but wish the important advice was in a step-by-step format or laid out for quick retrieval then you'll in luck - that's what the summary does for you. Then, if needed, a quick read of the summary will remind you of the full post in detail.

I've personally contacted every blogger I've added to the cloud and received proper permission to summarise and house their work.

Technical Tip

Under the blogger's heading you'll find a link called RSS Feed with a fancy little orange box thingy. This is a way for you to keep up with updates from the blogger. You can use an RSS reader such as http://www.google.com/reader/view/ to view and read the RSS when ever you feel. If you're interested in keeping up-to-date, RSS feeds are the best way and you'll find individual feeds for every blogger - encase you only want one.

The Community

enlighty-community Join and connect with similar minded people and enjoy your passion together...

The community is the hub of communication and sharing within the cloud. Chat about the summaries, make your own summaries and basically have fun with people who are like you.

enlighty-beta *Beta notice* Again, the community is currently in beta - so expect changes regular but don't worry about losing any information or coming across problems.

First look at the community

community-look-1

The community is typically what you'd expect these days. It's features are similar to Facebook and even has a Facebook connect which can allow you to jump straight into the action from your facebook account without ever registering on Enlightr.

Groups

There's plenty of groups to jump in and enjoy. You'll find the most active groups being the ones related to the blogger's themselves which are used to keep you up-to-date with changes as well as interaction from the blogger's themselves.

But.. if you feel the groups currently existing aren't for you - you can make your own just as easily. :)

Applications

If you use Facebook, you know what applications are. If not, their basically little thingies which sit on your profile and provide information or help you in some way. For example - a Twitter application is available which allows you place your Twitter updates directly onto your profile. Very handy.

Coming to the end of the tour
